Dr. Shani Fruchter is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and is currently working as an acute care and general surgeon at NY Surgical Services, PLLC.  After studying abroad in Jerusalem, Israel, she received her Bachelor of Arts in History at the Yeshiva University in New York and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012, from where she earned an award for ‘Excellence in Clinical Years’.

Dr. Fruchter’s post graduate training includes completing her Residency in General Surgery at the Hackensack University Medical Center in 2017. She served as a Fellow of Advanced Upper GI and Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery at Florida Hospital in Orlando, and in 2019, Dr. Fruchter served as a fellow for Abdominal Transplant Surgery at New York University Langone Hospitals. 

Upon completion of her extensive medical training, Dr. Fruchter began worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor for Acute Care Surgery at NYU Langone Health, in New York City where she served on several academic committees, including the Diversity and Health Equity Committee, the National Pancreas Foundation Center of Excellence, and the Postoperative Aspiration Reduction Workgroup..  

Between 2014 and 2020, Dr. Fruchter provided an array of poster presentations at the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and her publications include notable reference in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports.

Dr. Fruchter continues to broaden her depth of knowledge through various medical volunteer activities with which she is currently committed. She is a reviewing editor for BMJ Case Reports, a guest lecturer for the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association, and she serves as a mentor for the Undergraduate Pre-Health Society for Aspiring Healthcare Professionals at Olami JHealth, located in New York City.  

Dr. Fruchter is Board Certified in General Surgery, and her other certifications include Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and the Da Vinci Si System Modules for Residents and Fellows.  She is licensed to practice medicine in the states of New York and Florida, and she is an active member of various professional organizations, including the American Pancreatic Association, the Pancreas Club, the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the Americas Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Association, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, and the New York Society of Osteopathic Medicine.
